Snake Charm is a cast bronze sculpture, produced in an edition of 33 by American artist Liz Craft. The snake seems to have emerged from a daydream, brought to life with vivid precision. Craft’s sculptures, strange, yet familiar, take us to a collective subcultural landscape. The wild imagery, sexed and conscient, encompasses a peculiar piece of the American margin. Crafted by hand with the spontaneous energy of a gesture influenced by classical European techniques, the geometrical straightened snake suggests some talismanic power. Pick it up, hold it in your hand, and recite the magic spell. Snake Charm slithers from reverie to reality.
